Gareth Bale was at his best on Sunday, February 28, when the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, Jose Mourinho started him in the Premier League match against Burnley.

The 31-year-old Wales international gave Tottenham Hotspur a perfect start in the match by tapping in a pass from Heung-min Son in the second minute of the match.

He provided an assist for the second goal of the match which was converted by the club’s talisman Harry Kane in the 15th minute of the game. Before the first half ended, Tottenham Hotspur made it three through the boots of Lucas Moura, and Bale was involved in the build-up of the goal.

In the second half, Bale continued with his beautiful form as he scored the last goal of the match in the 55th minute to make it 4-0 in favor of Spurs. Before coach Jose Mourinho substituted him in the 70th minute, Bale had scored two goals and provided one assist.

At the end of the game, the Tottenham Hotspur loanee from Real Madrid recorded the 35th multiple-goal game of his career. Before Sunday’s game, Bale has never scored twice in a match since September 2019 when he scored two goals in Real Madrid’s 2-2 La Liga draw against Villarreal.

Besides the fact that he scored two goals and provided an assist against Burnley, Gareth Bale played a fantastic team game throughout the period he lasted on the pitch. The Wales international made 57 touches, 4 of which were in the opposition box. He completed 33 passes out of 42 attempts. He also recorded 3 shots, two of which were on target.

His two goals and one assist against Burnley on Sunday meant that Gareth Bale has been directly involved in seven goals in his last four games for Spurs.

At the end of the Spurs’ game against Burnley, coach Jose Mourinho was filled with praises for the winger who he described as being better than ever.

“Sometimes people write things, and sometimes, some of you like to imagine stories, you need to write stories and sometimes you like to say things that are not really true but there is not one single manager in the world that doesn’t play Gareth Bale if Gareth Bale is in very good condition,” Mourinho said. “There is no one, but now he is better than ever.

“It’s not just about the two goals he scored, it’s fundamentally about his physical performance. Now he’s not flat. Now he has ups and downs in the speed he brings to his actions.

“Even in the area in which he plays, sometimes outside, sometimes inside. He played very well and his condition is very good.

“I’m just pleased for the team because he helped the team to win and that’s the most important thing. I’m happy for him.”

Gareth Bale may start enjoying more regular football

So far this season, Gareth Bale has scored three goals and provided two assists in 9 Premier League matches. While he has played a total of 20 games, in which he scored 8 goals and provided three assists in all competitions.

His two goals and assist which helped Tottenham to win over Burnley, also helped the North London club to remain on the 8th spot on the league table with 39 points in 25 league games.

Bale’s performance against Burnley has earned him a special place in the heart of Jose Mourinho who has hinted that the Wales international might play more frequently if he could maintain his fitness level.

“Day after day, day after day, and as I was saying, he is experienced and his knowledge of his body and his feelings are going to be fundamental,” Mourinho said.

“A player that gives me this kind of performance of course I want to play him on Thursday and Sunday, and I want to play him next week against Dinamo Zagreb but I don’t think I can.

“So this is a process that we have to manage day by day and see how he feels tomorrow and see how he feels after tomorrow. He’s a very important part of this decision-making because he has a lot of experience.”
