    Wales International Gareth Bale and Colombian James Rodriguez have both been axed from the 24-man list of players to travel with the team to England on Friday for the club’s 2nd leg tie against Man City in the Champions League.

    It seems like manager Zidane had put the final nail on the coffin for both players as they have both been excluded from the squad list of the match against Manchester City. Gareth Bale last played for Real Madrid in June when they defeated Mallorca 2-0 in the league as he has gone seven games without stepping on the field for Real Madrid and he was seen in a not so celebratory moon when his team when the Spanish Laliga ahead of rivals Barcelona.

    The Welsh winger has scored over 100 goals from 251 appearances and 68 assists for the team since signing in 2013 for a then world-record fee of €100 million.

    This season he has only managed 16 appearances with just two goals and two assists. 

    His long wrap sheets of injuries have complicated Bale’s problem at Real Madrid while some of the fans feel he is not showing enough commitment.

    He has however been linked to several Premier League clubs even his former club Tottenham, but his wage demand only a few clubs can accommodate without breaking the bank.

    James Rodriguez, on the other hand, was sent on loan for two seasons to German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich were he showed the world he still has his mojo. James where he made over 60 appearances and scored 15 goals with 18 assists to win the league while he was on loan at the club. Since his return for the 2019/20 season, he has only managed 14 appearances with one goal and two assists. 

    His chances at the club have been limited partly due to the arrival of young blood such as Vinicius jr, Asensio, Rodrygo, and big-money signing from Chelsea Eden Hazard.

    Mariano would also not feature for the team as he tested positive for coronavirus and he is self-isolating. While ineligible skipper Sergio Ramos was included in the list despite his unavailability for the match.
