Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães has revealed that he would leave the London club for a Brazilian football club, Corinthians in the future.
The center back, who is from São Paulo in Brazil, has been a lover of the legendary football club in his homeland for a long time. The only Brazilian team Gabriel had played for was Avai.
The Brazilian revealed his love for Corinthians via a statement saying, “Corinthians, that’s since I was born, and today I don’t think it has to be any different. I still go to Corinthians games by train. It’s my dream; I want to play for Corinthians; I want to feel that energy.”
The player continued, “It’s something to think about. Sometimes I stop and think, ‘Do you dream of playing for Corinthians?’ I do. ‘When would you play for Corinthians?’ For me, I’d be at Corinthians tomorrow.”
“I hope it doesn’t take too long because I want to feel the energy of those fans, who are incredible, as soon as possible.”
Gabriel had regularly been seen in the stands during Corinthians matches in the Brazilian League. He was also filmed taking public buses to watch football matches in São Paulo.
However, there had been no talk of Gabriel leaving Arsenal before the commencement of the 2024–25 season.
Gabriel has been an integral part of the Arsenal football club since he moved from Lille to London in 2020. He had a formidable partnership with French international William Saliba in the Arsenal defense.
Arsenal are not expected to lose any key players ahead of next season. The club are considering recruiting a new left-back.
They will be looking at the transfer window for a backup goalkeeper for David Raya, with Aaron Ramsdale being expected to leave the club before the commencement of the 2024–25 season.
