Premier League club, Fulham have announced the signing of Kouassi Ryan Sessegnon from Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer.

The Cottagers confirmed the signing of the 24-year-old via a club statement on its website.

“The Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Ryan Sessegnon on a free transfer,” the statement reads.

The statement also added that the former Tottenham loanee to Hoffenheim has signed a two-year contract until 2026, with a 2027 extension option.

Ryan Sessegnon’s move to Fulham marks his second return to the club after his first spell with the club’s first team from 2016 to 2019. His Tottenham exit was long envisaged following his not-so-stellar stint with the club. In his five seasons with the club, Sessegnon managed only 38 league appearances and was temporarily loaned to Hoffenheim in the 2020-21 season as he continued struggling to fit in.

He had a one-year extension attached to his contract but the club were not eager to renew it, allowing him to leave on a free transfer.

Kouassi Ryan Sessegnon, born on May 18, 2000, is an English professional footballer, who played for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League but is now set for a new chapter with another London club, Fulham.

Sessegnon’s move to Fulham has seen him return to the club for the second time. The Roehampton-born footballer, began his career with the Cottagers at the age of 8, playing for the club’s youth since 2008. After successfully nurturing his footballing skills in the Cottagers Football Academy, he finally broke into the first team in 2016.

Notably, Sessegnon hit the ground running on his first professional appearance for Fulham in 2016. He became the first footballer born in the 21st century to score in a professional English football league.

In 2017, he played a crucial role in helping Fulham win promotion to the English top flight, scoring 15 goals. He would spend three seasons with the club, making 106 League appearances with 22 goals before joining London neighbors Tottenham Hotspur in 2019.

Tottenham Hotspur signed the 24-year-old for an undisclosed fee. However, close sources reveal the London outfit paid £25m for the deal, signing the player on a five-year contract.

Sessegnon’s Tottenham debut was delayed due to injury but he finally debuted for the Lilywhites in November 2019, coming on as a substitute in a 1-1 draw against Everton in the Premier League.

Throughout his spell with Tottenham, Sessegnon struggled with incessant injuries. He managed 38 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring 2 goals. In the 2020-21 season, he was loaned to German club, Hoffenheim, where he made 28 league appearances, scoring 2 goals.

Sessegnon’s career start with Fulham was the best chapter of his journey in professional football. He made 120 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 25 goals.

At Tottenham Hotspur, his career dipped significantly. He could only manage 53 appearances in all competitions, scoring 3 goals. During his loan spell with Hoffenheim, he tallied 29 appearances, scoring 3 goals. Overall, he has made 206 professional career appearances, scoring 30 goals.

Sessegnon has penned down a short two-year contract with Fulham till 2026. A one-year extension clause has been attached to the deal. His wage offer has yet to be disclosed as of the time of filing this report. While at Tottenham Hotspur, his estimated annual wage was £3,000,000 and £58,000 weekly.
