Former Liverpool player and Premier League pundit Jamie Redknapp was overly unimpressed with Casemiro in United’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium.
Speaking on punditry duties, Redknapp bemoans Casemiro’s sloppy and underwhelming show throughout the game.
According to the Sky Sports pundit, Casemiro was playing as if he was ‘in Soccer Aid’ as the Red Devils shared spoils with Bournemouth in a four-goal thriller.
Dominic Solanke, who has been in red-hot form for the Cherries, muscled off United’s young defender Willy Kambwala to fire the hosts in front.
Man United skipper Bruno Fernandes rose to the occasion for the Red Devils in the 31st minute rifling home a volley from Alejandro Garnacho’s cross to equalise.
After the equaliser, Kluivert raced the Andoni Iraola-led side into the lead again to cap a dominant first-half performance by the home side.
In the second half, clutch Bruno Fernandes came to Man United’s rescue again, scoring a spot-kick to make it 2-2. It ended all-square after the final whistle but United luckily escaped defeat. A late penalty call for Bournemouth by the referee was overturned after a VAR check.
It was another subpar delivery by United against the Cherries but Jamie Redknapp was particularly critical of Casemiro’s performance.
Speaking while on punditry duties with Sky Sport, Redknapp insisted Casemiro was far off expectations and was playing as if he was featuring in a charity football match.
Redknapp blamed Casemiro for Bournemouth’s second goal in the game, adding the Brazilian midfield sensation was slow and tardy with his game leading to the goal.
“He has to see that danger first of all, it’s his mistake he’s made [for Kluivert’s goal],” he claimed on Sky Sports. “But for me, what I’m on about is the culture of just running and sprinting and helping your teammates.”
Casemiro has not had a good second season with Manchester United this term. He has struggled off and on the pitch with niggling injury crises and has been linked to a potential summer exit from the club.
He has made 19 Premier League appearances for Manchester United this season, scoring a goal with two assists.
