If Manchester United can acquire the services of Frenkie de Jong this summer, the Dutchman will be the highest-paid player at Old Trafford.

For over 12 weeks, Manchester United have been trying to convince FC Barcelona to sell Frenkie de Jong to them this summer. Futballnews gathered that the Spanish side are ready to sell the player to give room for them to register some of their new players and have more cash to handle other transfer businesses.

Note that FC Barcelona have been battling financial issues and they have been selling parts of their TV rights to raise funds for transfer business. They have also been urging their players to accept pay cuts to raise funds.

In their quest to raise more funds and meet up with the Spanish La Liga financial fair play rule, FC Barcelona have been trying to sell some of their players including Frenkie de Jong.

But Frenkie de Jong who still has four years in his contract with FC Barcelona is not ready to leave the Spanish giants. Even if he has to leave, he is not ready to join Manchester United, a team that failed to qualify for the 2022-2023 UEFA Champions League campaign. Their 6th placed finish last season had only earned them Europa League football.

Despite Frenkie de Jong’s unwillingness to reunite with coach Erik ten Hag, his former coach at Ajax, Manchester United are still pushing to sign the 25-year-old Dutch central midfielder.

Reports in Spain and England claimed that Manchester United have already made over four bids to FC Barcelona but the Spanish side are yet to accept any other bids. Yet, the Premier League club are ready to make another offer for Frenkie de Jong.

What is the offer Manchester United intends to make for the services of Frenkie de Jong?

Futballnews gathered that Manchester United and FC Barcelona have reportedly reached an agreement worth £63million plus add-ons for the services of Frenkie de Jong.

Despite that, De Jong has refused to accept the opportunity of playing outside FC Barcelona. He is yet to accept United’s terms as Barca have failed to accept United’s offers.

One of the things that are reportedly hindering De Jong’s exit from FC Barcelona this summer is the debt the Spanish club is owing the midfielder.

Recent reports claimed that Barca are owing De Jong a whopping £17million in deferred wages. Manchester United are reportedly willing to pay the debt Barca are owing De Jong if the player is willing to join the Red Devils this summer.

Aside from that, Manchester United are reportedly willing to make Frenkie de Jong the highest-paid player at Old Trafford which means that he could earn more than Cristiano Ronaldo if he joins United this summer.

Frenkie de Jong is reportedly earning £450,000 a week at FC Barcelona and Manchester United are said to be willing to match his current salary if he joins them.

Note that Daily Mail reported that Cristiano Ronaldo who used to earn £500,000 per week at Juventus, earns £385,000 a week at Manchester United. This means that if De Jong joins Manchester United this summer, the Dutchman will earn over £70,000 per week more than Ronaldo.
