Former Morocco international midfielder Abdelaziz Barrada has died at the age of 35, the Moroccan Football Federation has revealed.

Confirming rumors regarding the death of Abdelaziz Barrada, the Moroccan Football Federation put out a statement on social media where they paid tribute to the late footballer.

They wrote: “The Royal Moroccan Football Federation, represented by its President Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, on his own behalf and on behalf of the Board of Directors, extends its sincere condolences to the family of the former Moroccan international, the late Abdelaziz Berrada, and through them to all his family and relatives, as well as the national football family, on this great loss.”

The Moroccan Football Federation also acknowledged Barrada’s contribution to the national team and asked for God’s mercy on the late footballer.

They added: “The late Abdelaziz Berrada, who passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024, had previously worn the national team jersey on more than one occasion and also played for many European and Arab teams. May God have mercy on the deceased, and to God we belong and to Him we shall return.”

Abdelaziz Barrada played for several clubs during his career, including Getafe, Olympique Marseille, and Al Jazira, amongst others.

Barrada, who was born in France, started his career in the reserve side at Paris St-Germain, and they also shared their tribute to the deceased on social media.

Paris Saint Germain wrote: “The club extends its heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Abdelaziz Barrada called time on his football career in July 2021 after making 195 club appearances, scoring 36 goals, and providing 36 assists in all competitions.

Barrada last played for French side Lusitanos Saint-Maur before his retirement and he departed the team in 2021 despite not making any appearances for the club.
