Former Liverpool star Naby Keita has been brutally dropped out of the Werder Bremen squad after an explosive fallout with his employers.
The Guinean midfielder only joined the Bundesliga side last summer after Liverpool ended his contract. Keita made just five appearances for Werder Bremen, with just one start in all competitions.
His nightmare spell in Germany went from bad to worse when he refused to board the team bus before the game against Bundesliga Champions Bayer Leverkusen.
Instead of moving into the bus, the Guinean midfielder went home. The club bosses decided to suspend and fine him after the horrible incident.
It has been announced that he has been put up for sale after being told to stay away from the club for the foreseeable future.
Werder Bremen’s managing director of football, Clemens Fritz, said, “It was a very open conversation in which we came to the joint conclusion that this is the most sensible way forward in the current situation. On the one hand, we want to focus fully on the rest of the preparation and the start of the season.”
“On the other hand, Naby had also been thinking about it for some time. Since his sporting situation has not changed again, he would like to look for a new challenge. Together with his advisor, we want to make this happen as soon as possible.”
“We won’t tolerate Naby’s behaviour. He let his team down in a time of difficulty surrounding our recent run of form and squad availability and put his own interests above those of the team.”
Liverpool signed the Guinean midfielder for £48 million in 2018, but he did not officially move to the club that season.
Injuries largely affected his performance, as he made just 129 appearances over the five years in England. He left the club on a free transfer.
There is a need for him to stay consistent to be able to join another football club next season.
He is currently training individually as he continues to search for new opportunities elsewhere.
