Former Liverpool star Charlie Adam has finally hanged his boot as he announced his retirement from football. Adam took to his social media page to officially announce his retirement at the age of 36, thanking his supporters and fans that have sailed with him in a 19-year career.
Posting his retirement message alongside video highlights of his illustrious and rich career, Adams maintained that he was ‘lucky playing for some of the biggest clubs in the world.’
He also highlighted some of his bests moments which include playing in the Champions League, scoring for Liverpool, and winning promotion to the Premier League with his childhood and favorite club, Blackpool.
“I feel now is the time to announce my retirement as a player”, he said.
“I’ve been lucky enough to play for some of the biggest clubs in the world, from Champions League nights at Ibrox for Rangers, winning promotion into the Premier League as Blackpool captain, pulling on the famous Liverpool shirt and scoring in front of the Kop, eight incredible seasons at Stoke City to guiding my boyhood club to promotion and playing 25 times for Scotland – it’s not been a bad ride.”
Charlie Adam extended his appreciation to various clubs in Scotland and England that gave a shot and boost to his football career hoping he gave his best, including memorable moments to remember.
He thanked Glasgow, Rangers, Ross County, St Mirren, Blackpool, Liverpool, Stoke City, and Dundee supporters for their support throughout his career.
“A huge thank you goes to Glasgow Rangers, Ross County, St Mirren, Blackpool, Liverpool, Stoke City, Reading and Dundee’s supporters – hopefully, I’ve given you all some memorable moments along the way.”
Charlie Adam revealed his next plan of action after hanging his boots. He stated that he will throw himself into coaching because it’s something he has been “passionate about.”

He thanked his parents and other close family members for standing by him and giving the necessary support over the last 20 years of his career

Charlie Adam started his football career with Rangers at a very young age and played for 19 years touring Scottish and English clubs.
He has played for Blackpool and two Premier League clubs – Liverpool and Stoke. He has also played for Reading and Dundee in his 19 years career.
Charlie Adams left Dundee this summer after a two-year spell with the club during which he helped the team gain promotion to the Scottish elite division – the Scottish Premiership.
He made over 80 appearances for Rangers before joining Blackpool and has been capped 20 times by Scotland’s senior men’s national team.
Charlie Adam led the Seasiders as captain and helped them gain promotion to the Premier League before he joined Liverpool in 2011.
After a stint with Liverpool, Charlie Adam went on to play for Stoke City and later Reading before returning to Dundee in 2020.
He was spotted with David Moyes helping West Ham United in their pre-season training at St Andrew’s. Charlie Adams was also seen with Burnley’s under-23 set-up – as he hopes to complete his coaching badges.
