The Croatian defender recently departed Anfield to move to Russia where he will be teaming up with ex-Chelsea defender Ivanovic alongside former Barcelona player Malcolm. He enjoyed a trophy-laden end to his Liverpool spell winning the Premier League, Champions League and UEFA Super Cup.

Starting in the Russian Super Cup final, Lovren completed the full 90 minutes as Zenit beat Lokomotiv Moscow to clinch a domestic treble.

Zenit were victorious courtesy of goals from Artem Dyzuba and Magomed Ozodev. The defending champions will now look forward to retaining their title when the Russian league resumes.

Lovren has always been one to talk up himself and not shy away from anybody. Not too long, he constantly squared up to Sergio Ramos series of times. Their Feud began after Ramos’ role in “inadvertently” injuring Salah in the Champions League final. The feud also carried on to their respective national teams.

The Reds star also said “Elbowed him good!” in a seeming allusion to a challenge he made on Ramos during the game and referred to in another Instagram post celebrating the victory. In that image, Ramos is seen grabbing his head in discomfort.

He said: “If you look at Ramos, he has many more mistakes than me. But he’s at Real Madrid. Ronaldo, a couple of seasons ago, when you do a mistake, but you win 5-1, 5-2, nobody sees the mistake.”

Ramos, 32, took the high road in response to those remarks and refused to comment: “I do not know if those things are said out of frustration or for other reasons. I’m not going to answer Lovren or those who want to win a front-page headline or news bulletin. Let each one win things on the field.”

The Real Madrid captain watched on the sidelines as his side crashed out to Manchester City yesterday.
