Former Arsenal player Tyrell Robinson has been sacked by his club Bradford City. The sack comes in the wake of the winger being charged with engaging in sexual activities with a child. The England international was arrested back in August 2018 for allegations of sexual assault.

The West Yorkshire Police made a statement on Monday saying, ”Tyrell Robinson, aged 22, of South Ockendon, Essex has been charged with engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child.”

”The charge relates to an offence which is alleged to have occurred in Bradford in August 2018. He has also been charged with one count of making an indecent image of a child and two counts of distributing an indecent image of a child and has been summonsed to appear before Bradford magistrates on 7 April” the West Yorkshire Police added.

League Two side Bradford City, initially suspended Robinson and have released a statement confirming he has been sacked.

A club statement said: ”Bradford City Football Club has parted company with Tyrell Robinson. This comes after West Yorkshire Police confirmed charges had been brought against Robinson, following his arrest in August 2018. Robinson has been dismissed from the remainder of his contract. The club will be making no further comment on the matter.”

Robinson was a promising act who came through Arsenal’s youth academy. He started his professional career in 2015 and shortly after starting his senior career he was released by Arsenal in 2017. After a trial with Watford, the hornets rejected to offer him a contract resulting in the winger signing a one-year deal with Bradford in May 2017.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed his spell at the League Two side having been named Bradford City’s supporters Trust Under 23s Player of the Year just after one season at the club. His last game for the club was in August 2018 during Bradford’s 2-0 loss to Barnsley. Shortly after the game, he was suspended by the club. Robinson is said to be best mates with former Arsenal star and Nigerian international Alex Iwobi.
