Juventus and Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny have mutually agreed to discontinue their relationship.

The Old Lady deemed Szczesny surplus to requirements at the club, having signed a goalkeeper this summer to become their new first choice.

Juventus secured the services of Michele Di Gregorio on loan from Serie A side Monza this summer, for a fee of €4.5 million, and that signaled the end of Wojciech Szczesny’s tenure as their primary option in goal.

Wojciech Szczesny At Juventus

The 34-year-old joined the Turin-based club in July 2017, for a fee of €18.4 million and he made 252 appearances, keeping 103 clean sheets.

Szczesny had an impressive spell at Juventus, delineating his brilliance in the goalkeeping department.

However, it appears Wojciech Szczesny couldn’t fit into manager Thiago Motta’s pattern and it resulted in both parties ending their partnership.

Summer signing Di Gregorio has been one of the best goalkeepers in Italian football and is noticeably skilled with his feet.

These attributes apparently caught the eyes of Motta and he has opted to go with the 27-year-old in goal for Juventus.

Meanwhile, Szczesny has been linked with Saudi Arabian giants Al Ittihad this summer and it appears that could be his next destination.

The shot-stopper has also been linked with a potential return to English giants Arsenal, where he plied his trade between 2006 and 2017.

Wojciech Szczesny replaced all-time great Gianluigi Buffon in the goalkeeping department at Juventus and he won several trophies at the club, including; 3 Serie A titles, 3 Coppa Italia, and 2 Supercoppa Italiana.

The former Arsenal man was also named the Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year in the 2019/20 campaign.

Additionally, Szczesny was included in the Serie A Team of the Season for the 2022/23 campaign, following his magnificent showing for Juventus.
