A footage has emerged showing AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho chasing Feyenoord manager Arne Slot and talking down on him in the tunnel after Roma defeated the Dutch team in the Europa League.
It was a fiery night for both managers. A pre-match slot comment triggered Mourinho after the match.
Feyenoord’s manager said, “Their style of football achieves results, but I prefer to watch Manchester City and Napoli. I’m very honest about that.”
Mourinho, who was not really happy with the statement, retaliated, saying, “You watch Napoli, but you should watch us.” “You should watch us, not Napoli, not Napoli.” He continued shouting, “Respect, respect.”
One of Mourinho’s assistants was also vocal with his words. He said, “If this is how you play, you should go home quickly.”
Mourinho led AS Roma to its first European Conference title, defeating Feyenoord in the final 1-0 last season, becoming the first manager to win three different European club titles.
Feyenoord thought they had gotten their revenge and would stop AS Roma from qualifying for the semi-finals of the Europa League after they won the first match 1-0 in the Netherlands.
However, in the post-match conference, Mourinho warned a journalist that Feyenoord haven’t won the match yet and that there is more to play for in the second leg.
In the second leg, AS Roma came back stronger and overturned the 1-0 deficit with a 4-1 win at the Stadio Olimpico. Jose Mourinho celebrated in an emphatic way even before the end of the final whistle.
The manager was seen pointing hands to the fans, and they all cheered him out with loudness. He also high-fived his players and hugged his staff.
After the match, Mourinho had a post-match conference with the same journalist who interviewed him in the first leg. Although, before Jose Mourinho could answer any question, he gave him a chain key with the Europa League title.
AS Roma are on the course of winning their next European title under Jose Mourinho, but they face a more improved team in Bayern Leverkusen, who haven’t lost a match since the introduction of Xabi Alonso as the manager.
Jose Mourinho’s experience as a manager may take him to the final with ease and help him win the trophy with the team. If he succeeds in the Europa League with AS Roma, the team will qualify for the Champions League next season.
Even with a low budget, AS Roma experienced success under the former Chelsea manager. The manager has controversially sent disloyal players out of the club, and he is still progressing.
He failed to win a single title at his former club, Tottenham, but seems to be ready to give everything to make AS Roma a competitive team again in Europe.
