Fleetwood Town Boss, will be absent from their next match as he’s been issued a one-match Touchline ban. This comes after he confessed to using abusive language against match officials.

A Ched Evans goal that was disallowed for offside after initially being allowed to stand is what has caused the manager to use such lanaguage. Barton,  was shown a red card at the 70th minute by referee Paul Marsden, and was sent to the stands for protesting against a disallowed goal in their goalless draw against Bristol Rovers on the 29th of December.

In a post-match interview with BBC Radio Lancashire, he said he anticipated the ban. Speaking he said, “I’m just passionate, and care about my team winning games,” according to the 37-year-old former midfielder. He went on to admit that the language he used was in breach of Football Association Rule E3. E3, which says any language that is abusive and/or insulting and/or improper and/or implied bias will result to a penalty. He accepted the standard penalty.

The draw now means, Fleetwood slips into eighth in the table, although they remain just a point off the play-off places.Their next game which is on New New Year’s Day against Sunderland, will see the boss in the stands as the ban comes into effect immediately.

Recall, In December 2018, he was slapped with a two-match touchline ban after being sent off by referee Brett Huxtable as his side lost 2-1 at the Memorial Stadium.

His post-match comments about Huxtable that day also saw him land a £2,000 fine.
