Fiorentina star Franck Ribery is out for 10 weeks after undergoing surgery on his ankle on Saturday.

The 36-year-old sustained serious ligament damage during their 1-0 loss to Lecce in Serie A on November 30.

An earlier report says the French midfielder will have to undergo a joint stabilization surgical treatment on the right ankle.

Fiorentina announced on Saturday that the former Bayern Munich attacker had undergone the surgery. And will have to wait for about 10 weeks to resume full training.

Also, the France international will be back to Florence on Sunday to start his rehabilitation process.

Meanwhile, Ribery has scored only two goals and provided two assists in 11 league matches this season. The club says “He is expected to resume full training in around 10 weeks’ time.”

Fiorentina is on a run of four consecutive Serie A defeats as they host league leaders Inter on Sunday. They are struggling in 13th in the league with three points above the relegation zone currently.

The earlier report says Inter cancels a pre-match press conference, to preview the trip to Florence. This is due to the insulting article published by a newspaper to mock the boss, Antonio Conte.

The offensive words were from a fan to condemn Conte’s inability to make it out of Champions League’s group stage. Corriere Dello Sport also supports the content by adding their comments.
