As 100 players were narrowed down to a final XI, featuring Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain and Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema, EA SPORTS received almost 10 million votes from voters across the world.
Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City and Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool were chosen from Premier League teams.
Mbappe had the biggest number of votes (23%) among attackers, while De Bruyne received the majority of votes among the nominated midfielders (21%).
Champions League champions With four candidates, Real Madrid had the most representation, closely followed by PSG with three.

The FIFA Ultimate Team of the Year is an exclusive grouping of 11 FUT players who have been chosen by their peers as the top performers over the past 12 months.

How the Ultimate Team of the Year was selected
After having successful years, Messi, Mbappe, and Erling Haaland were among the TOTY nominees.
There was representation from the Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, and Serie A, among other leagues.
Following their World Cup victory, several of Messi’s Argentina teammates reached the shortlist, including Enzo Fernandez of Benfica and goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
Along with Harry Kane, Bruno Fernandes, Van Dijk, and Alphonso Davies, Neymar, De Bruyne, and Mohamed Salah also made an appearance. However, Cristiano Ronaldo was conspicuously absent due to his rough 2022.

Five players from Paris Saint-Germain, three from Manchester City, two from Chelsea, and one from Bayern Munich were included in the FUT 22 Team of the Year.
