For the FIFA 23 video game, Lionel Messi of PSG has been rated higher than Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United.
Due to his performance with PSG last season, Messi is now rated at 91, and Ronaldo is rated at 90. This latest edition of the video game featured Ronaldo’s lowest rating since FIFA 11.
Messi and Ronaldo have both dominated FIFA by displaying years of consistency and highly distinguished performances, winning the Ballon d’Or and the Champions League.
In FIFA 23, Ronaldo’s pace had been adjusted to 81 from 87 due to tiring legs, as the Portuguese legend in recent matches had been dispossessed easily by Premier League defenders.
Ronaldo’s dribbling skills have also been downgraded from 88 to 85, and his passing has been slapped by four points, that is from 82 to 78.
According to reports, the former Real Madrid number seven will keep his strong attacking work rate, four-star weak foot, and five-star technical movements.
Having scored 18 goals in the Premier League last season and six goals in the Champions League, the striker was given a better point total of 92 on shooting. Ronaldo still can force the goalkeeper into making award-winning saves.
However, Ronaldo’s defensive ability has been rated 35 and his physicality is now rated 78, which means the five-time Ballon door winner can easily be dispossessed on the ball.
Although he was nominated for this year’s Ballon d’Or, Ronaldo has failed to score any goal so far in the 2022-2023 season and has mostly started from the bench as Erik Ten Hag rates other players who can dominate with the ball higher than an aging Ronaldo.
A further downgrade is tipped to happen given that the 37-year-old Portuguese legend now plays in the Europa League. Aside from that, he was rejected by the majority of the clubs in the Champions League in the last transfer window which shows how much his relevance has depreciated.
On the other hand, Ronaldo’s career rival, Lionel Messi still ranks among the top 5 players with the best rating. However, he was downgraded from 94 to 91. Last season, he was the best player in the game.
Each and every rating of Messi was reduced. Only his defence stayed the same. his pace has dropped by four to 81, and his shooting by three to 89.
This has come as a result of his drastically dropping form after he joined PSG from Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer of 2021. Messi has been on top of his game this season and has the most assists so far in Ligue 1.
Karim Benzema is the best player in the latest rating, with an increment of +2 to his initial rating of 91. Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski moved to second position with 92 ratings.
