It is no longer news that the 100 overall players rating for Fifa 21 was released about a month before the game was officially launched on October 9 and Lionel Messi is the number one player on Fifa 21 top ten ratings.
Lionel Messi picked up from where FIFA 20 ended as EA Sports rated him 93 overall to maintain his position as the highest-rated player in the game. While his career rival, Cristiano Ronaldo maintained the second spot with 92 overall.
Below are the top 10 highest-rated players in Fifa 21
- Sadio Mane (Liverpool)
Sadio Mane is a new face in the top 10 Fifa 21 ratings. In Fifa 20, the Senegalese was rated 28th. But his performance in the Premier League-winning Liverpool squad helped him to break into the top 10. He is ranked 10th in Fifa 21 with 90 overall rating.
- Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
Mohamed Salah is not new in Fifa top ten ratings. The Egyptian forward was ranked 8th in Fifa 20. But in Fifa 21, his rating dropped to the 9th spot. His overall rating is 90.
- Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain)
Kylian Mbappe is one of the new entrants in the Fifa 21 top 10 ratings. In this year’s version of the game, he is not only the cover of the video game, he leaped from the 11th spot which he was in Fifa 20 to the 8th spot in Fifa 21. His overall rating is 90.
- Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)
Virgil van Dijk is a none mover in Fifa 21 top 10 ratings. He is the best-rated defender in Fifa 21 just like in Fifa 20. His overall is 90 just like how the Netherlands and Liverpool defender was rated in the last version of the game.
- Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid)
Jan Oblak is the best-rated goalkeeper in Fifa 21. The Atletico Madrid goalkeeper is given 91 overall rating to take the 6th spot on the Fifa 100 overall ratings.
- Neymar (Paris Saint-Germain)
Neymar is sitting on the 5th spot in Fifa 21 with an overall rating of 91. The Paris Saint Germain star has continued to be a regular in the top 10 but he has not been making much progress in the ratings.
- Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)
Kevin De Bruyne is the highest rated, Premier League player in Fifa 21 top 10 ratings. He took the 4th spot with an overall rating of 91 to match up with his last year’s ranking in Fifa 20.
- Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)
Robert Lewandowski was unarguably the best striker in Europe. He scored a total of 55 goals before the season ended. Hence, he deservedly got 91 overall ratings which kept him in the 3rd spot on 100 overall ratings for Fifa 21.
- Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus)
Just like in Fifa 20, Cristiano Ronaldo remained second to his career rival Lionel Messi. This is the third time in a row that Messi has remained ahead of Ronaldo. In Fifa 21, Ronaldo’s overall rating is 92 which is 2 points lower than the 94 he attained in 2018 where he was the highest-rated Fifa player.
- Lionel Messi (Argentina)
For the third consecutive year, Lionel Messi has remained the highest-rated player in Fifa 21. Though he had a very rough season last season. For the first time since 2008, he ended his season in Barcelona without a trophy at the end of the 2019-2020 season. Yet, he was good enough to be rated 93 to remain the highest-rated player in Fifa 21.
Top jumps and top falls
Fifa 21 ratings came with a series of surprises and disappointments. Some players felt their Fifa 21 ratings was too low while others just overlooked it and allowed their fans to debate about it on social media.
Players like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jadon Sancho, Erling Haaland, Serge Gnabry, and 14 other players broke into Fifa 21 overall 100 ratings for the first time in their careers.
Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United made the highest leap in Fifa 21. Due to his strong start at Manchester United, he jumped from 99th spot he occupied in Fifa 20 to 44th in Fifa 21.
Another astounding jumper in the ranking is Lazio’s forward, Ciro Immobile. He had a fantastic season last season and scored a total of 36 goals to become the highest goalscorer in all the leagues in Europe. The European Golden shoe winner jumped from the 70th spot to 30th spot in Fifa 21 overall ratings.
On the other hand, Eden Hazard suffered the highest fall from the top. The overall ratings of the Real Madrid star fell from 4th in Fifa 20 to 22nd in Fifa 21. This brought him from 91 overall to 88.
Another player who fell heavily was Luka Modric. The one-time Ballon D’or winner was rated 9th in Fifa 20 but he experienced a massive fall in Fifa 21. However, the fall only reduced his overall point from 89th to 87th.
Fifa 21 ratings: the unhappy players
Some players were not happy that they were downgraded or not excited about the kind of overall they were given when the Fifa 21 overall ratings came out in September.
Some of the players who publicly displayed their unhappiness included: Aymeric Laporte who was not happy that his pace was reduced; Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who was not excited that his rating was downgraded from 88 to 87 overall, the striker also dropped from 25th to 36th in the overall ranking.
Another player that was not too excited about his rating was Romelu Lukaku. The Inter Milan was not happy despite the fact that his Fifa 21 rating moved from 86th to 77th with 85 overall. He felt he deserves better.
