Asisat Oshoala stole the spotlights after she scored Nigeria’s third goal in a five-goal thriller against FIFA 2023 Women’s World Cup co-hosts, Australia.

The Barcelona forward netted a 77th-minute strike to take his World Cup tally to three goals which equaled her number of appearances in separate editions of the tournament.

Oshoala was subbed on in the game against Australia in the 64th minute after he missed the first game against Canada due to a knock.

The former Arsenal forward made her debut in the tournament count as she scored the third goal in Nigeria’s 3-2 win over Australia.

Oshoala cushioned Nigeria’s narrow 2-1 lead after goals from Uchenna Kanu and Osinahci canceled out Australia’s early lead from Emily van Egmond.

Oshoala’s first World Cup goal was against Sweden in 2015 in Canada in a six-goal thriller draw in the group stages.

Her second World Cup goal came in a 2-0 win over Asian side, South Korea, in 2019 in France.

Oshoala played for two years for Rivers Angel before joining Liverpool in Women Super League, a top tier women football league in England.

Oshoala played for only one year for Liverpool, making 9 appearances for the club, scoring 3 goals. In 2016, she joined Arsenal and spent a season with the club, making 11 appearances, and scoring 8 goals.

After her spell with Arsenal, Asisat Oshoala joined Chinese top side, Dallian Quanjian, where she made 20 appearances, scoring 23 goals.
