Supporters of opposing clubs have reacted to the result, with many putting out hilarious posts.
Asiwaju Lerry, a popular influencer on X (formerly known as Twitter) and a fan of Chelsea, took to the platform to diss Manchester United by writing: “Some Clubs are scoring 6 goals in the Premier League while some are scoring 6 in EFL cup, our levels are not the same.”
He made this comment in reference to Chelsea’s 6-2 thumping win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in a matchday 2 English Premier League action.
Arsenal supporter WelBeast, who is also an influencer on X, mocked Manchester United by sizing them up and sharing that they are at the level of Barnsley.
He wrote: “Winning 7-0? The competition is Carabao, and the opponents are from League 1.
“They truly have found their level like fish in water. The hunter has killed a dead lion.”
One fan also commented: “Yeah fr they’re getting gassed like they won the champions league.”
Another shared: “If u had told me in 2012 that Manchester United fans would be celebrating a Carabao cup game against Barnsley on a Champions league night in 2024, I would’ve been in disbelief.”

A fan also claimed not to have known the League One side before Manchester United played them on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
The fan wrote: “With ALL DUE RESPECT, it’s Barnsley, I didn’t even know about them before today. 🥲 Do this in the Prem please.”
Another expressed that Manchester United will return to their old ways of poor results in their upcoming game against Crystal Palace on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
The individual said: “Guys relax, it’s only Barnsley. We all know united will go back to default settings this weekend.”
Another video was also shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), indicating that Manchester United bullied Barnsley because they were stronger than them, while they showed palpitations when they saw teams like Manchester City and Liverpool.
Meanwhile, the last time the Old Trafford side won a match 7-0 was in 1997, and interestingly, it was a league match against Barnsley.
Manchester United In The 2024/25 Carabao Cup
Erik ten Hag’s side have progressed into the 4th round of the Carabao Cup following the win over Barnsley, however, it is unknown who they will face in the next phase.
The Carabao Cup fourth-round draw will be held upon the conclusion of the third round, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
It will start after the final game, between Liverpool and West Ham, with kick-off set for 8:00 pm BST.
Immediately after the full-time whistle in that match, the fourth-round draw will be held, so that’s around 10:00 pm BST to 10:15 pm BST, depending on the possibility of penalties.
