Saudi international Fahad Al-Muwallad was a subject of a tragic event on Thursday, September 12, 2024 as he fell from the second-floor balcony at his residence.

According to reports, the footballer was on a vacation at his home in Dubai before the tragic incident occured, leaving him seriously injured.

More details of the report were shared by the Dubai Emirates police team, who swung into action to investigate the incident.

A statement from the Dubai Police reads;

“Fahad Al-Muwallad, a Saudi football player, was involved in an accident while on a short vacation in Dubai, falling from the balcony of his second-floor home.”

The statement added that Al-Muwallad remains in intensive care for necessary treatment due to severe injuries he sustained during the accident. It has yet to be determined whether he is responding to treatment at the time of filing this report.

Fahad Al-Muwallad was born in Jeddah on September 14, 1994. He was recognized as a prominent football talent in his local area at a very young age.

La Liga giants Barcelona caught news of the talented youngster and approached him, but he rejected the European giants. Fahad opted to sign for a club in his locale Al-Ittihad, joining their youth team at the age of six.

It took the young prodigy little time to work his way up the ranks at the club. He gained attention from the Saudi national media when he started training with the first-team squad at the age of 15.

Fahad Al-Muwallad made his professional debut for Al-Ittihad at the age of 16 against Al-Raed. Known for his blistering pace and his superb technical ability, he recorded impressive performances with the club.

His brilliance with the ball saw him emerge as one of the biggest talents in Asian football. Particularly, he was thrusted into the limelight for his performances for Al-Ittihad in the AFC Champions League at the age of 17.

Fahad also lit up the Champions Cup, scoring in the final against Al-Shabab in a 4-2 win. His efforts saw him recognized as the competition’s MVP. He ended the 2012/13 season with an impressive 10 goals in all competitions.

The following season saw Fahad score 5 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions. His efforts that season caught the attention of his manager, Khalid Al Koroni, who described him as an “extraordinary talent.”

In the 2014-15 season, Fahad attained greater heights. He put in countless amazing performances, including scoring a magnificent ‘bicycle kick’ goal in a 4-3 win over Al-Taawon. His performances drew praise from then-manager Victor Piturca. The star scored 10 goals in 24 appearances that season.

Al-Muwallad won the 2016–17 Saudi Crown Prince Cup with Al-Ittihad, contributing 14 goals across all competitions that season. He then went on loan to La Liga side Levante in 2018, where he made two appearances.

Upon his return in the 2018–19 season, he set a personal record by scoring 16 goals in all competitions. In August 2022 the star joined fellow Saudi side Al-Shabab.

Fahad Al-Muwallad scored 81 goals in 252 games during his eleven-year stay at Al-Ittihad. He made two appearances during his loan spell at Levante.

His two-year stint with Al-Shabab has seen him score twice in 36 games. Also, he has scored 17 times in 80 appearances for his national team.

Fahad Al-Muwallad has one year remaining on his current contract which is reportedly worth €930,000. His estimated market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €1.5m.
