Las Palmas have unveiled Porto’s youngest-ever player and goal scorer Fabio Silva as their new striker.
Wolverhampton Wanderers sent the Portuguese forward Fabio Silva on a one-year loan to the La Liga side despite receiving bids from several clubs including Sevilla and Genoa.
The 22-year-old striker has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League club since his £35m move from Porto in 2020, scoring just five goals in 72 appearances.
Silva has previously had loan spells at Anderlecht, PSV Eindhoven, and Rangers, with his last Wolves appearance coming in November 2023.
Meanwhile, the Portuguese promising forward Silva went on his fourth loan spell, joining La Liga side UD Las Palmas for a first taste of Spanish football on August 30 2024.
However, it was not until Thursday afternoon, September 12, that the La Liga club introduced him as Las Palmas’ new striker.
The young Portuguese talent expressed his excitement to play in La Liga and promised to work towards achieving victories.
In his first statements, Silva revealed the La Liga club were the first team to show interest in him and that’s why he’s reciprocated that gesture to sign for the club.
He said, “Las Palmas was the first team to reach out to me in May. It’s the team I’ve joined, my first love. I’ve learned that things happen naturally in life.”
Fabio Silva uploaded a picture of him holding his Las Palmas shirt alongside Portuguese teammate Essugo with caption “I’m very happy to fulfill my goal of playing in La Liga! Thank you for your love, fans! Up the team!”
This move marks another attempt to revitalize Silva’s career, with Wolves keen to sell the forward. Las Palmas will hope Silva can find his form and make a significant contribution to the team’s success.
