FA Cup Third-Round Draw: Manchester City Host Chelsea, See Other Top Fixtures

    FA Cup third-round fixtures have been arranged with Premier League giants Manchester City and Chelsea fixed in a face-off among other crucial matches.

    Manchester City has been drawn against Chelsea in the FA Cup third round; as well as top matches like Oxford United vs Arsenal, Manchester United vs Everton, and Liverpool vs Wolves.

    Winning teams in the third round will claim a cash prize of £105,000 from the competition.

    The money-spinning third-round ties will take place on January 6 to 9, after the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

    Even though the tournament will not kick off until the end of the World Cup action, there is excitement already building up ahead of the FA Cup third round.

    The biggest clash of the FA Cup third round will see Manchester City host Chelsea, while current champions Liverpool will face Wolves, Manchester United will take on Everton, and Premier League toppers Arsenal will travel to take Oxford United.

    Guardiola’s City will host Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium in early January two months after their Carabao Cup clash in early November which City won.

    Elsewhere, Premier League toppers Arsenal, who have won the FA Cup a record 14 times, will travel to take Oxford United, who are 13th in League One.

    Non-league side Boreham Wood, the lowest-ranked club in the third-round draw, will face League One’s Accrington Stanley in January.

    National League toppers Wrexham were given a Championship away match against Coventry City, while another non-League side in the draw Chesterfield will host West Brom.

    While Brentford will be hosting West Ham, Crystal Palace will face off against Southampton.

    Meanwhile, League Two side Stevenage, second in that division, gets a top-flight away fixture at Unai Emery’s Aston Villa while third-tier team Portsmouth will travel to face off with Tottenham.

    The FA Cup third-round matches will be played across the first full weekend in January, from Friday 6 to Monday 9.
