A good number of football teams have been able to assemble expensive squads capable of winning silverware during the 2024-25 transfer window.
The English Premier League teams spent a whopping amount of more than £1.75 billion on new players in the just concluded transfer window.
Chelsea have spent €1.26 billion on 25 players, which include add-ons. Even though the club have spent billions on players, the West London team have failed to perform up to expectations.
The second-most expensive squad in the world is Manchester United. The club spent €1.038 billion on 20 players. In the 2024-25 season, Manchester United spent more than €200 million on new signings.
The reigning Premier League Champions Manchester City fall in third place on the top 100 most expensive squads in the world. They have spent €1.01 billion on 18 players.
Arsenal are another Premier League team with the most expensive team in the world. They have spent €798 million on 21 players. Tottenham Hotspur are in fifth place with a squad of €787 million.
On the sixth place is Paris Saint-Germain with a squad worth €772 million, even though Kylian Mbappe left the club.
Under Paris Saint-Germain are Liverpool and Real Madrid, who have spent €735 million and €720 million, respectively.
Newcastle United are another team on the list of the most costly squad. The White and Black Army have spent €683 million on players.
The club are expected to compete for silverware in the 2024–25 season. Next on the list is Juventus. The Club are the biggest spender in the 2024-25 transfer window in the Serie A. The club squad worth €626 million, including add-ons. Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid’s squads are worth €588 million and €496 million, respectively.
In the Saudi Arabia Pro League, Al Hilal have the most costly players squad. The club have spent €485 million on 17 players. This has helped the club stay relevant in the Middle East.
In South America, Flamengo have the most costly squad with a valuation of €208 million. In Asia, Shanghai Port have the most costly squad with a value worth €66 million.
