Richarlison has landed himself in deep trouble with the FA after picking up a lit blue flare and hurling it back into the Goodison crowd while celebrating Everton’s victory over Chelsea. The FA is investigating Everton striker Richarlison after he threw a flare into the crowd at Goodison Park. Richarlison could face a three-match suspension.

With a crucial three points against Thomas Tuchel’s side, the Brazilian gave Frank Lampard’s side a lifeline in their relegation battle. Richarlison took advantage of Cesar Azpilicueta’s blunder to score a 1-0 triumph over Edouard Mendy.

However, the striker has landed himself in hot water with the FA after picking up a lighted blue flare and flinging it back into the crowd as he celebrated his goal, prompting an investigation. When the FA received the reports from referee Kevin Friend and Premier League matchday delegates, they launched an investigation.

Because of FA regulations regarding “non-standard” incidents, punishment is unlikely to be implemented for at least a fortnight. Wembley chiefs will also wait until Tuesday to review the video evidence because Monday is a bank holiday. Richarlison could face a three-game suspension, the maximum penalty, but he could also face a fine and a severe warning.

“We will look into the matter,” an Everton club spokesperson said, “but as far as we are concerned, Richarlison was attempting to throw it out of the ground.”

The FA issued a written warning to Harvey Elliott earlier this year after he was seen picking up a flare following Liverpool’s penalty shootout victory over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup Final.

Lampard was overjoyed with Everton’s tenacity and thanked the Goodison Park faithful for spurring his team on as they secured a crucial victory. He stated, “It was challenging. They are always a team that will put you under a lot of pressure late in the game. We performed admirably. Today’s match was won by the team, the stadium, and the fans. From the drive to the assistance that we require.

“This is happening right in front of the supporters’ eyes. I’m glad the players were able to witness what it meant to the supporters on the way in. They are aware of and comprehend this. They rallied behind us, acting aggressively; this must be a difficult place to enter. Before I arrived, the results at Goodison were good, and we needed to keep them up. “

We must strive for points because we are in the relegation zone, and we must have the same attitude in every game. They [the players] must demonstrate that they care. That appeals to me. They don’t have to cross the line, but they do have to demonstrate that they care; the supporters want to see it. Before the game, I poked them a little. All of our remaining games must be played at that level. That has to keep pouring in, and if it doesn’t, we have to figure out what’s going on.

Lampard waxed lyrical about England’s number one after Jordan Pickford made a flurry of saves to deny Chelsea an equaliser. “Jordan (Pickford) made tremendous saves,” he added. They are Chelsea, so they will have opportunities, but we also have chances. Jordan is such a fantastic young man; he is England’s number one for a reason. That is top-level goalkeeping, and I am pleased with him, as well as the other players and subs that came on. “
