After a low blow in the signing of Norwegian talent Haaland, Manchester United have their eyes fixed on signing 22, Dominic Calvert-Lewin for £50m. The six-foot two-inch striker has been reportedly on Solskjaer’s radar for months. DCL, categorically fits the United dream team in terms of their transfer policy – English born, and under the age of 24.
While talks about the Goodison star’s teammate, Richarlison as a leading man on the Theatre of Dreams wish list, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has always been seen as having the potential to replace Romelu Lukaku as a physical presence.
Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti said, “There are a lot of people who have eyes on him.” This could mean any move from Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be met with stern opposition. Ancelotti admits he was a big admirer while still in charge of his last club Napoli and ready to put up a good fight.
As expected, this won’t be easy now that Ancelotti loves him more than ever being that he grabbed the winner in his first game in charge, a 1 – 0 victory over Burnley. He followed that up with both goals in the 2 – 1 Boxing Day success against Newcastle United.
So, will the English striker who ticks every requirement off the Old Trafford’s boss list be transferred? Only time will tell. Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho is also said to be a United target but there is major competition for his signature and Chelsea are leading the race for a player valued at over £100m
