Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has said that his team’s goalless draw away at Everton in the Premier League on Sunday evening was a fair result.

The Reds returned to top-flight action after a three-and-a-half-month holiday for the 236th Merseyside derby, which ended in a stalemate.

As both sides created chances in the game held at Goodison Park, both Alisson Becker and Jordan Pickford were busy making vital saves, and both teams eventually shared points.

Liverpool can only secure their first Premier League title in 30 years on Wednesday at Anfield when they welcome Crytal Palace, provided Manchester City, fail to beat Burnley at Etihad Stadium on Monday. If not, the party will be postponed for another week.

A well organized Everton had the chance to claim maximum points all thanks to Alison. The Brazilian goalie stopped Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s flick late on before Tom Davies rebound hit the post.

While admitting that Everton had the biggest chance to win the game, the German tactician said his side didn’t create enough opportunities with all the possession they had.

“I liked the intensity level of the game; I liked the high-press, counter-press, all these kinds of things. I didn’t like too much – but you cannot force that – the rhythm. We had good football moments, not until the last moment, the decisive moment where you have a free shot of whatever.

“We didn’t have enough chances for sure, but that’s how it is. When I think about it, I think all the derbies here at Goodison looked pretty similar honestly. I think the result is similar. At Anfield, the games are, most of the time, slightly better. Here at Goodison, it was always like this – two teams, aggressive, very physical.”

Speaking on the organization of the hosts, especially in the backline, Klopp said Liverpool had to run a lot, which he said looked good as his team looked fit and ready.

On the log, Liverpool currently has 83 points from 30 games, followed by Man City with 60 points with a game less, while Leicester is occupying the third spot with 54 points. Chelsea is also 4th three points adrift the Foxes.

Alisson’s save outstanding – Jurgen Klopp

Speaking on Alisson’s late his save that denied Calvert-Lewin from scoring, the gaffer described him as an outstanding player.

“Outstanding. A difficult goalkeeper game. He had the ball much more in his feet than in his hands, but he’s good with his feet as well, so that’s good. That’s what a world-class goalie is, nothing to do for 90 minutes pretty much, and then in one second you have to be there, and he was there. It saved us a point – it was not the first one.”
