Pep Guardiola has stressed that even he is not “safe from the sack” as the expectations from Premier League clubs grow bigger.

An astonishing number of 12 managers have been shown the exit door in the English Premier League this campaign, not including Graham Potter’s choice to exit Brighton for Chelsea.

The Spaniard thinks the culture in England is different now!

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager thinks the culture in England has changed from the way it was prior to now.

The Spaniard said: “The results are important but it’s if the plan works, In this country, when I was younger, they always had the tradition to keep managers.

“Today, with different owners and a lot of pressure and a lot of investment… in one side, I understand.

“Everyone has a lot of pressure. The manager, the board. People believe in changing things because they believe they can be better.

“Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. All the managers know. If it doesn’t happen, you always take a risk.”

When questioned on if he had tried to avoid ever being booted out by knowing the right time to exit a team, Guardiola stated: “I’ll tell you a secret: we win games. If we didn’t win games, I would be sacked. I’m not sacked because we’ve won a lot of games during these years.”

Manchester City’s trip to the Saint Mary’s is another chance to apply pressure on table toppers Arsenal, who play against wishy-washy Liverpool on Sunday at Anfield.

Pep Guardiola was direct about the importance of the game, but put down any edge in playing first this weekend.

“If we drop points, Arsenal will be champions in advance,” he said. “If we win, we could be champions on the last day. We are used to it, so it’s not a problem.

“I don’t see an advantage (in playing first). Sometimes when we’ve made a title race with Liverpool we’ve been before or later.”

Guardiola has stated that City wouldn’t underestimate Southampton

Despite Southampton sitting bottom of the league, Guardiola stated he and his side would not underrate the challenge.

“Now every team is playing for something, it’s the same important fight for the Premier League,” he said. “Every game has its own characteristics and you have to be ready, Southampton have always been so tough.

“Since the year we got 100 points in the 94th minute, the game we won they were much better than us. Always it’s been a tough, tough game. Tomorrow won’t be an exception.”

The achievements of Pep Guardiola as manager of Manchester City

Manchester City hired Guardiola in 2016 and the Spaniard has delivered lots of Silverware for the Manchester based club including rubber stamping their grip on English football.

He has led the side to four Premier League titles, one FA Cup triumph alongside four EFL Cup trophies in addition to winning the FA Community Shield on two occasions.

The only achievement Pep Guardiola is yet to clinch as manager of Manchester City is the UEFA Champions League.

And they were so close to winning it in the 2020/21 campaign but they lost out to a Thomas Tuchel inspired Chelsea side.
