After agreeing to a deal with the reigning English champions, Erling Haaland is on his way to the Premier League.

Incoming Manchester City forward Erling Haaland is said to have blessed his Borussia Dortmund teammates with pricey items as parting gifts.

According to a report by German news agency Bild, Haaland requested 33 custom-made premium Rolex wristwatches for each of his BVB colleagues. Two limos from the Netherlands delivered the timepieces, which included a personal try-on service for each teammate.

They had three images designed for the box that came with it: one with his BVB shirt number, one with him in a celebratory position, and one with him holding the DFB-Pokal.

The watches were expected to cost between €13,000 and €15,000 each, putting the total cost of the gifts at between €429,000 and €495,000.

Members of the club’s staff received parting presents, including an Omega Speedmaster Professional watch. They cost between €5,000 and €7,000 each. Erling Haaland joined Dortmund from Salzburg in 2020 and has exploded in popularity, causing Manchester City to activate his release clause.

The former Molde striker leaves Signal Iduna Park with an incredible 86 goals and 23 assists in 89 appearances for the club in all competitions. Haaland was awarded the Golden Boy winner for 2019 and is widely considered a future Ballon d’Or winner.

However, despite his brilliance at Dortmund, the club’s perennial underachievement ensures that they are nearly constantly in Bayern Munich’s shadow. Dortmund are like a tier below the continent’s premier teams and are unlikely to compete for significant continental titles anytime soon.

With the majority of his colleagues in other clubs playing at a higher level, this could have harmed Haaland’s chances of long-term individual success. The move to Manchester City is advantageous in this regard, as the Premier League champions are currently one of the top teams in the world.

Pep Guardiola’s team has a near-monopoly on dominance in English football and has been chasing the UEFA Champions League title for several years. Haaland’s chances of being a frontrunner for big individual awards have improved dramatically.

Manchester City will also be adding one of the world’s most lethal attackers to their ranks. This will help them overcome their lack of a known goalscorer in the squad.
