Erling Haaland has been the name on everyone’s tongue for the past couple of months. The Norwegian striker has scored 11 goals in just seven games for Borussia Dortmund thus far. After sealing a move worth £17 million from Salzburg in January the hotshot has been on fire and is not showing signs of slowing down.
The 19-year-old recently revealed he owes Cristiano Ronaldo for being his inspiration. When speaking about his astonishing success thus far the Dortmund striker references Ronaldo as the benchmark for his exploits.
”I would love to meet him and tell him that I am a footballer thanks to him. For me, he was always a role model”
Subsequently, there have been rumors that the wonder kid could be on his way to Italy, most likely Juventus in the summer. If this happens Haaland will get to play with his role model. If it will happen, it is up in the air but wouldn’t be ruled out since his agent is Mino Raiola who helped Matthijs de Ligt’s secure a transfer to Juventus last summer from Ajax.
”It is believed that with Emre Can joining Dortmund on a permanent basis in the summer for £21m, he joined on loan last month, Juventus may look to use him as a makeweight for Haaland to move to Turin” a source to Juventus has revealed.
Haaland in recent times has been seen imitating the Juventus superstars goal celebration. Thanks to two goals from the youngster, Dortmund defeated PSG 2-1 in their Champions League-16 first leg on Tuesday.
If Dortmund defeats PSG in the second leg, Haaland could possibly meet Ronaldo in the Champions League if both clubs draw each other in the quarter-finals. Not the introduction Haaland may have been looking for but a good way to impress his role model on the pitch. Dortmund will travel to France on March 11, while Juve is yet to face their opponents Lyon.
Will Haaland finally meet his role model? Only time will tell.
