Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund and Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich met on Saturday, December 4, 2021, to play a crucial German Bundesliga game that did not end well for Dortmund even though they were the hosts.

However, it was Dortmund that first showed a sign that they were in the game to take the maximum three points especially after the club scored the opening goal in the 5th minute, thanks to Julian Brandt’s strike.

However, the lead did not last too long before Bayern Munich took the lead through Robert Lewandowski in the 9th minute of the game. In the 44th minute, Kingsley Coman gave Bayern the lead.

In the second half of the Bundesliga game, Borussia Dortmund talisman, Erling Haaland scored the equalizer in the 48th minute. Afterward, Dortmund had a couple of chances to take the lead but referee Felix Zwayer’s calls did not favor the home team.

In the 77th minute of the game, Lewandowski scored his second goal of the match from the spot which was enough to give Bayern a 3-2 win over Dortmund.

During the game, referee Felix overlooked Dortmund’s opportunity to earn a spot-kick but did not hesitate to check the pitchside monitor to award Bayern a spot-kick.

The decisions he made in the game which were against Dortmund earned the club’s coach Marco Rose a red card for dissent.

Despite the agitations from Dortmund against the officiating of the game, Bayern’s coach, Julian Nagelsmann insisted that his team deserved to win the game.

“I think we deserved to win but I also understand the discussions over the two penalty situations,” he said.

“It was a very tight game that was worthy of its reputation. We could have scored more in the first half. Dortmund did it well early in the second half but we found our rhythm again and had good control.”

On the contrary, Erling Haaland believes that there were some calls the match referee made that worked against Dortmund. He revealed that he went to the referee to ask why the referee did not check the pitchside monitor for a possible foul in Bayern’s box.

Unfortunately for Haaland and his teammates, when Bayern found themselves in a similar situation, the referee did not fail to check the pitchside monitor.

“I think it was a scandal when it comes to the referee,” Haaland told ViaPlay. “I asked him ‘why didn’t you just go and look?’ He said: ‘No, there is no need.’

“I need to calm down a little bit now. He was arrogant, and I will not say more.”

The 3-2 win over Dortmund has made Bayern Munich the leaders of the league with 34 points in 14 games. While Dortmund are occupying the second spot with 30 points in 14 games, four points away from the table leaders.
