Erling Haaland suffered an injury blow while he was on international duty with Norway and this is coming just nine days before Manchester City’s showdown with Liverpool.
Manchester City record-breaking striker Erling Haaland twisted his ankle after he came out as a substitute for Norway in a 2-0 friendly win over the Faroe Islands.
Though the City forward managed the knock until the end of the match, it is quite a worrisome case for Pep Guardiola as he prepares to host Liverpool after the international break.
He informed City’s coach Guardiola that the initial pain had reduced 24 hours after that incident but looked in considerable pain again against the Faroe Islands.
Norway team doctor Ola Sand, who examined Erling Haaland, told TV2: “It was much of the same that happened against Bournemouth a week-and-a-half ago. He has had it before too.”
“Erling Haaland gets a slight twist in his ankle, where he is a bit vulnerable. It hurts a lot right away, and then it goes away pretty quickly. Then we’ll see tomorrow how he is then.”
“Now he will receive some treatment, then there will be peace and rest and then we will see how he is tomorrow morning”.
The national team has already contacted City, and Haaland has been under the supervision of the club’s sports therapist, Mario Pafundi, who usually travels with him on international duty.
Erling Haaland, who has been in scintillating form this season, will be welcomed back by City for the top-of-the-table showdown against Liverpool.
The 2022/23 Premier League Champions are currently top of the table but they sit one point ahead of Liverpool, whom they face just after the International break.
