Borussia Dortmund defeated Hoffenheim 3-2 in a German Bundesliga game on Saturday, January 22, 2022. However, the game did not end perfectly for Dortmund as the club’s talisman Erling Haaland ended the game with an injury.
Before the 21-year-old Borussia Dortmund striker sustained the injury, Haaland scored the opening goal in the 6th minute and played until the 63rd minute of the match.
Before the end of the first half, Hoffenheim’s Andrej Kramarić scored the equalizer. In the second half, Marco Reus scored the second goal for Borussia Dortmund to restore his team’s lead.
In the 66th minute of the game, Hoffenheim’s David Raum scored an own goal to increase Dortmund’s lead. While in the 77th minute, Georginio Rutter got one back for Hoffenheim but it was too late for the home side to get any point from the game.

Towards the 63rd minute of the German Bundesliga game, Erling Haaland limped off the pitch. Dortmund’s coach Marco Rose decided to replace the Norwegian striker with Axel Witsel.
After the 3-2 win over Hoffenheim, coach Rose confirmed that Erling Haaland developed an adductor problem during the game. The 21-year-old striker would have to undergo a further medical examination to ascertain the level of damage.
“He felt something in his adductor. We have to wait and see,” Rose told Sky in Germany.
“I can’t say anything about Erling yet. We need to examine him first”, the coach added during the post-match press conference.
If the injury is anything to go by, Erling Haaland could miss the German Bundesliga game between Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen on February 6, 2022.
With the goal the Norwegian striker scored against Hoffenheim on Saturday, Erling Haaland’s goals for this season have increased to 23 in 20 games in all competitions. He has also provided 6 assists so far.
His effort has helped Borussia Dortmund to remain on the second spot in the German Bundesliga with 43 points in 20 games, three points below first placed Bayern Munich that still have a game in hand.
The injury problem of Erling Haaland might affect his transfer market value

Erling Haaland is arguably the most sought-after striker in the world. But the biggest chance he has to leave Dortmund is in the coming summer transfer window because there is a release clause in his contract that permits him to join any club of his choice for about €75 million.
Hence, most top clubs in Europe including FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Manchester City are reportedly planning to go for him next summer.
But the fact that he is currently out with an injury could make some of the top clubs that are interested in his services have a rethink.
Recall that this is the second time this season that the Norwegian striker has sustained an injury which is not a good attribute of his promising career.
According to transfermarkt.com, Erling Haaland’s current transfer market value is €150 million. That might start dropping if he keeps sustaining injuries.
Meanwhile, the latest transfer reports are speculating that Manchester United are no longer going for Erling Haaland. Real Madrid is said to be his most likely destination.
