Erling Haaland, a forward for Manchester City, will sit out Wednesday’s game against Sevilla because he is “not fit,” according to manager Pep Guardiola.

    Erling Haaland suffers injury

Erling Haaland is expected to watch his other teammates battle against Sevilla on the sideline today, as it has been confirmed by Pep Guardiola that the Norwegian star striker will not be available due to injury.

Erling Haaland missed the Premier League encounter against Leicester City last weekend but is expected to play against Fulham on Saturday, according to Guardiola, who announced to the media during his pre-game news conference on Tuesday.

Guardiola felt that the striker was not worth the risk while acknowledging that Haaland was “feeling better” ahead of the Wednesday match at the Etihad.

Haaland won’t be available today, according to Guardiola. “Even though he feels better than he did on Saturday and Sunday, he is still not 100%, so we don’t want to risk it. He should be available for Fulham. He is feeling better every day”, the coach added.

On October 25, during a scoreless draw with his former team Borussia Dortmund, Erling Haaland was taken off due to a fever and a foot injury.

Erling Haaland missed the 1-0 victory over Leicester City last weekend because he was taken off at halftime of the goalless draw with Borussia Dortmund during the previous week.

With three wins and two draws from their first five games, the Blues have already clinched first place in Group G of the UEFA Champions League for this season.

Given his fellow forward’s goal-scoring prowess, Julian Alvarez, a summer signing from River Plate, will likely start today as a result of Erling Haaland’s absence.

In the absence of the Norwegian, Julian Alvarez will be in charge of leading Manchester City’s attack, although City supporters will be hoping that Erling Haaland heals fast and is ready to play against Fulham. In the Premier League standings, Manchester City is currently in second place, two points behind leader Arsenal.

The opportunity to play the day before the Gunners presents itself to City for the second consecutive weekend; Mikel Arteta’s team will face a challenging trip to Stamford Bridge on Sunday to face Chelsea.

Before suffering an injury, Erling Haaland made a fantastic start to life at the Etihad, scoring 22 goals in his first 16 games across all competitions.

    What’s next for Manchester City?

The Citizens will face the Spanish team Sevilla today on the 2nd of November 2022, in their last UEFA Champions League group stage match by 9:00 pm.

However, the winner of last season’s Premier League campaign will host Fulham at Etihad Stadium on Saturday 5th of November 2022, in the English Premier by 4:00 pm, before they face Chelsea in the third round of the Carabao cup on Wednesday 9th of November 2022, then round it up against Brentford in the Premier League before the World Cup break.

This means all of Manchester City’s matches before the World Cup gets on the way in the middle of this month will be played at the Etihad Stadium.
