The relationship between Jadon Sancho and Erik Ten Hag remains in shambles, as both parties have not mended their burnt bridges.

Their squabble has lingered for little over a month with both parties not ready to reconcile their differences.

It all began when Ten Hag claimed that his decision to not include Sancho in Manchester United’s squad to face Arsenal on September 3, 2023, was due to the player’s “performance in training”.

However, Jadon Sancho apparently branded his manager a liar, saying he was being made a “scapegoat”.

The 23-year-old stated that he had a commendable week in training, and as such external reasons resulted in his absence from the clash against Arsenal.

An excerpt from the player’s lengthy statement reads: “I have conducted myself in training very well this week. I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into.

“I have been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair! All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team.”

The former Borussia Dortmund forward has been advised by his teammates to apologize to Erik Ten Hag, but he has remained defiant to those calls.

Due to his feud with Ten Hag, Jadon Sancho has been linked with a move away from Manchester United.

Reports indicate that there have been offers from Saudi Arabia for Sancho, while former club Borussia Dortmund are also interested in bringing him to Signal Iduna Park.

Erik Ten Hag on Jadon Sancho’s future

Speaking ahead of his side’s encounter against Brentford, Erik Ten Hag tried to turn a blind eye to questions regarding the Englishman’s absence from the team.

The Dutchman said: “I am sorry but there’s nothing that has changed with Jadon Sancho”.

“He’s not available, so he’s not part of the squad. So I don’t have any comment on that”.

There has been speculations that Manchester United are also ready to let go of Jadon Sancho, with Wolverhampton Wanderers Pedro Neto seen as his potential replacement.

Sancho is also willing to exit Old Trafford in search of a fresher challenge, as his relationship with Ten Hag appears to be nearing an irreparable state.

He joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund on July 23, 2021, for a fee of €85 million.

The 23-year-old has made 82 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 12 goals and providing 6 assists across all competitions.

Jadon Sancho played his best football in Germany with Borussia Dortmund, but issues regarding discipline has always affected his game.

It has been said that Sancho spends late nights on his computer, and he also has a video game addiction.

He has also battled problems regarding discipline with the national team of England, with manager Gareth Southgate confirming in 2021 that his lack of playing time at the Euros was as a result of his form in training.
