Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has recruited Manchester United Academy star Jack Kingdon to the first team.
Kingdon, 18, joined Manchester United from Morecombe in 2020. He joined United’s first-team training ahead of Bournemouth Premier League game.
Known for his stability, strenthy, and pacey strides, Kingdon emerged as one of the promising defensive talents in the United Academy and has earned the trust of Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff who have been monitoring his progress. He has scored 2 goals in 14 League appearances for the United U18.
The Bolton-born Scotland youth player has been tipped to rise to the summit of his burgeoning career following his impressive stats with United Youth.
His promotion to United senior side has heralded a new milestone in his career, offering the youngster a chance to prove his talents on a bigger stage.
Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag’s decision to opt for the youngster has been linked to the dearth of options in United’s defence lineup.
Ahead of the Premier League clash against Bournemouth, the Dutch confirmed two more injury blows in the United defence with Raphael Varane and Evans set to miss the game.
Varane is set to miss action for ‘a few weeks’ while Evans’ injury duration will be for a ‘shorter term,’ as per United squad update ahead of the Bournemouth clash.
The duo’s injury blow adds to Man United’s crippling injury crisis at the defence this season with the likes of Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, and Lisandro Martinez all sidelined
Jack Kingdon is the second Manchester United young defender to be promoted to United’s first-team by Erik ten Hag after Willy Kambwala, who is enjoying a promising breakout with United’s first-team since his debut.
It is still unclear whether Erik ten Hag will hand Jack his first start with fingers crossed on who will make his defensive picks in the Bournemouth game.
