Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed the injury situation of struggling United forward Anthony Martial.
Martial, 28, has struggled with a niggling injury crisis that has reduced his minutes for United.
It has been three years since the French forward played for the full 90 minutes for Manchester United, and has seen his Old Trafford fortunes take a wild tumble.
This season, he has managed just 13 Premier League appearances for the club and has been sidelined twice.
The former Ligue 1 sensation is currently on the sideline with a groin issue. He has missed 8 games, and is set to miss more as he tarries on his rehabilitation and recovery.
Speaking ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Bournemouth in the Premier League, United manager Erik ten Hag rebuff question on the return of Martial.
When asked whether the player will return this season, the Dutch said he doesn’t know before adding he has yet to recover, and is still with the club’s medical team.
“Anthony Martial is out on the pitch, but if he will be available this season… I don’t know”.
“He’s still with the medical team”.
Erik ten Hag has relied on Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford in United’s center-attacking berth in the absence of Anthony Martial.
However, he has hinted the club may need another striker this summer to support Hojlund ahead of next campaign.
Ten Hag’s call for a supporting striker for Hojlund is an affirmation of reports the club will part ways with Anthony Martial at the end of the season when his contract will expire.
According to the Sun, Inter Milan have plotted a shock move for Martial as the French footballer closes in on ending his nine-year stint with Manchester United.
