After the World Cup break, Premier League clubs are set for the resumption of the league with players returning to their respective clubs from the World Cup.

Jason Sancho was not called for England World Cup squad despite being in fine form under Manchester United’s new manager Erik Ten Hag.

The Red Devils will get their campaign back underway with a Carabao Cup clash with Burnley at Old Trafford.

After being left out of the Three Lions’ 26-man squad for the World Cup in Qatar, Erik Ten Hag confirmed Jadon Sancho is not physically and mentally fit for the Red Devils.

The former Ajax manager reportedly sent the England star to a training base in the Netherlands, where he was expected to recuperate to return to fitness before the Premier League resumes.

However, Ten Hag revealed that the club is anticipating his return immediately from the training base in the Netherlands to join the team ahead of the Premier League resumption.

“We want to bring him back as quickly as possible, but I can’t give a prognosis of when that will be,” Ten Hag said.

“Sometimes there are circumstances with fitness and mood. We got a drop of quality level and sometimes you don’t know why or what is causing it.

“That is what we are doing now to try to get him back there. It is a combination of physically and mentally”.

Jason Sancho made his last appearance for Manchester United on October 22 in a thrilling 1-1 draw with Premier League rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

After the game, he was ruled out of the squad after suffering an illness.

With a squad bubbling with young and prolific talents and new signings, it was not difficult for Jadon Sancho to be replaced.

New signing from Ajax Antony, former Atletico Academy graduate Alejandro Garnacho, and Marcus Rashford were readily deployed by Erik Ten Hag to cover for the missed forward.

Erik Ten Hag approved the individual training programme at Netherlands after he recovered from an illness and needed to be active since he did not make the England World Cup squad.

He was training with one of the trusted amateur clubs and officials in the Netherlands at OJC Rosmalen, which is said to be a close ally of Erik Ten Hag.

Sancho trained with Rosmalen for a while and suddenly deactivated his social media accounts, to the surprise of many Man United fans.

Erik Ten Hag proceeded with Manchester United mid-season training during the World Cup break without Jadon Sancho returning to the squad.

The Red Devils may be missing the former Borussia Dortmund forward as he is yet to return from his individual training in the Netherlands.

He was last seen on October 31 and will not be available for Manchester United’s EFL Cup clash against Burnley and Premier League game against Nottingham Forest on December 27.

After the game against Nottingham Forest, Manchester United will take a new year trip to the Molineux Stadium to take on Wolves before battling Bournemouth and Everton.
