Erik ten Hag seemed to have finally conceded capitatulation as dreary statistics continue to mount at Old Trafford.

Manchester United stumbled yet again to another home defeat this term against Newcastle United in EFL Cup.

The loss against the Magpies takes United’s capitulation at Old Trafford to five games in their first 10 matches – the first time they have recorded such grim stats since 1931-32 season.

Newcastle United ran riot over the Red Devils at Old Trafford turning the Theatre of Dreams into a colosseum of murdered hopes.

After losing to cross-city rivals, Manchester City, United fans must have expected Erik ten Hag to restore his pride and confidence against Eddie Howe’s boys. Miguel Almiron, Lewis Hall, and Joe Willock made it another nightmare for the Red Devils as they fired Newcastle into a comfortable 3-0 win with a goal each.

Almiron struck first in the 28th minute before Lewis doubled the lead before the interval. United comeback hopes was effectively smashed at the hour-mark when Joe Willock nailed home Newcastle United’s third to make it 3-0 for the Magpies.

Reacting to the defeat against Newcastle United, Erik ten Hag admitted United are actually ‘in a bad place’ and need to up their game with the high expectations from the fans.

“I understand when the results are not there it is logical they are questioning that,” he said.

“But I am confident I can do it. At this moment we are in a bad place and I take responsibility for it.

“But I am a fighter. I see it as a challenge.”

Manchester United will play Fulham in the Premier League at the weekend and there is a growing feeling Erik ten Hag is becoming clueless on how to arrest United’s free fall. The Dutch will be under intense pressure to secure nothing less from a win against Fulham with fans already sounding calls for him to be sacked.
