England punched their ticket to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with a statement win over San Marino earlier today. The 3 lions thrashed San Marino 10 – 0 to top group 1 and Harry Kane scored 4 goals in the match.

The ten goals route makes it the second time in history that England had scored 10 goals in a match. The first time was when England defeated the United States 10 – 0 in 1964.

England coach (Southgate) had a successful World cup 2022 qualifier as his team racked up 38 goals to top the group. This number is England’s highest tally in any European or World Cup qualifier campaign.

“Fantastic. It came to the last game and we were expected to win tonight but we’ve done a good job. Fantastic to go through,” the 28-year-old Kane, who is now only five goals behind England’s record scorer Wayne Rooney, said.

“We cannot do anything about the level of opposition but the mentality and the way they [England’s players] applied themselves was terrific,” Southgate said.
