Serie A club Empoli have reportedly signed Chelsea youngster Tino Anjorin from the club on a permanent deal.
Anjorin joins the list of players who have exited the club this summer following his struggles for first-team action.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Empoli have verbally agreed on a deal with Chelsea for Anjorin, with the player set to leave after all documents are signed.
Tino Anjorin
A Chelsea youth product, Anjorin was identified as one of the brightest prospects to have come out of the ranks at the club. Chelsea debuted him in September 2019, during one of the League Cup matches against Grimsby Town. And, by March 2020, he was among the Premier League debutants, playing against Everton.
However big his potential might be, opportunities in the first team remained an impediment at Chelsea for Anjorin. He was sent on loan spells to Lokomotiv Moscow, Huddersfield Town, and Portsmouth where he further honed his footballing skills. However, it was not enough to earn him first-team action with the Blues.
Tino Anjorin stats
Anjorin made five senior appearances for Chelsea, with most of his game time coming through loan spells. He notched up nine games and one goal for Lokomotiv Moscow before an injury cut short his time in Russia.
He played 17 matches, scoring three goals, and registering one assist at Huddersfield Town. At Portsmouth, he made 14 appearances and scored twice.
Contract Details
Anjorin has agreed personal terms with Empoli and he is set to join the club as terms have been agreed verbally. However, details of his contract with the club have yet to be disclosed at the time of this report.
Broja Loan Move To Ipswich On The Verge of Collapse.
Armando Broja’s proposed loan move from Chelsea to Ipswich Town has been cast into doubt after concerns over a potential Achilles injury emerged during a medical.
The two clubs agreed earlier this week that the 22-year-old forward would join Ipswich for the season, but complications with his medical examination have seen the terms of the agreement put on hold.
Though Ipswich have not quite pulled the plug on the deal until everything is over, they are actively shopping elsewhere in the market right now, according to reports. This is a serious blow for Chelsea, who are hopeful of offloading their fringe players before the transfer window closes in a few days.
Broja was also told he is not in the plans of Enzo Maresca at the moment at Stamford Bridge. So, the transfer setback has left his future in doubt.
Chelsea will have to hurriedly find a solution for the transfer of Broja before the summer transfer window is slammed shut.
Ipswich agreed to a loan deal with a buy option for the player. However, the club only agreed to trigger the buyout should they stay in the Premier League.
A deal for Broja will be a pure profit registration for Chelsea since the player is a homegrown star.
Injuries marred the player’s spell at Stamford Bridge. He was sidelined last campaign with a knee issue. He also found it challenging to make an impact when on loan at Fulham in the latter half of the same campaign. It remains to be seen what this latest setback means for his immediate playing future.
