The Real Madrid star reported for international duty with France as the 2022 World Cup runners-up get ready for their two Euro 2024 qualifier games against Gibraltar and Greece on November 18 and 21, respectively.

In a shock twist of misfortune, Camavinga was forced to withdraw from the squad following a knee injury that he sustained during a training session on Wednesday, November 15, after an alleged collision with former FC Barcelona player Ousmane Dembele.

According to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano Real Madrid’s new test indicated that Eduardo Camavinga has ruptured the outer side ligament in his right knee and will be out until the end of 2023.

The report further revealed that he’ll be back in action in January 2024.

Originally, it happened as if the 21-year-old had resisted any serious problem but later medical tests led to the decision to discharge him from the France camp and permit him to return to Spain.

Camavinga has later undergone tests and a Spanish outlet reported that the 21-year-old will be out of action until 2024, with seven matches set to take place between November 26, and the New Year.

The former Rennes youngster has been outstanding for Real Madrid this season giving an option for Carlo Ancelotti in both midfield and left-back positions.

He has made 17 outings in all competitions so far this season. His absence will therefore be definitely felt, especially considering the injury to fellow teammate Aurelien Tchouameni, who is predicted to be sidelined for six weeks.

The French Football Federation (FFF) also revealed the wonderkid has suffered a knee sprain, with several sources reporting that he is likely to be out of action for around eight weeks.

Camavinga will therefore miss his nation’s upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Gibraltar on Saturday, November 18, and Greece on Tuesday, November 21, although those games are basically dead rubbers for France, who have already booked a spot in Germany for 2024 Euros.

If Eduardo Camavinga does eventually miss eight weeks of football, he would miss Los Blancos’ next six La Liga games and their last two Champions League group matches, although they have, at least, already qualified for the tournament round of 16.

How Real Madrid could cope without Eduardo Camavinga

Camavinga’s injury could force head coach Carlo Ancelotti into a rebuild in terms of his formation, with Luka Modric and Dani Ceballos both presently battling for game time.

Camavinga’s absence would be an option for the duo to come into the midfield position alongside regular starters Federico Valverde and Toni Kroos.

The manager would also have the choice of bringing Jude Bellingham back into his initial position, but he will be unwilling to change the place of a player who has scored 13 goals this season while playing as the number 10.

Bellingham was also forced to withdraw from the England camp following a shoulder injury that saw him miss out on Real Madrid’s last match against Valencia

What’s next for Eduardo Camavinga?

The 21-year-old would face a race against time to be fit for the Spanish Super Cup, which will kick off on January 10.
