France Injury Woes and How it May Affect Them In The World Cup

France will be without Karim Benzema, Christopher Nkunku, Paul Pogba, and N’Golo Kante throughout this tournament. Three of those players were part of the team that won the World Cup in 2018. Raphael Varane is a doubt for the country’s 2022 World Cup opener against Australia due to fitness issues.

The team’s current injury woes might affect their goal scoring statistics, and they may struggle to win. The team is going into the competition without world-class midfielders who can supply the attackers with some great passes.

The attack is going to suffer from a lack of ball in the midfield and may have to fall back into the middle to help the midfielders. But the team still has Kylian Mbappe and Olivier Giroud to score goals up front.

For this tournament, the team should not be considered the favorite to win it thanks to the country’s Injury woes.

France vs Australia World Cup opener

Deschamps will probably play Mbappe with either Olivier Giroud or Antoine Griezmann in their opening match against Australia, using the same starting trio he used at Russia 2018.

Given that Thierry Henry (51) holds the record for most goals scored by Les Bleus, Giroud has extra incentive.

However, France will need to improve on recent results given that they have only won one of their last six UEFA Nations League games played between June and September (D2, L3).

Their first obstacle is a squad from Australia that barely made it to Qatar and had to defeat Peru in a play-off after a controversial penalty shootout in order to advance.

    Where to Watch

TV channels in Spain: Telemundo On DSTV, check SuperSport 3. It will also been shown on FOX.

Due to the attacking riches of France, the team is likely to get its three points. Mbappe, Osumane Dembele and Giroud are top players capable of causing havoc to the Australian team.
