Liverpool’s forward Darwin Nunez‘s former agent, Edgardo Lasalvia has hit out at he Brazilian, after he was dropped from representing him last year.
Nunez changed agents on the verge of moving to Anfield. After leaving long-term representative Edgardo Lasalvia, the Uruguayan joined Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute agency.
Having come a long way with Nunez, this move clearly hurt Lasalvia. And speaking to Uruguayan radio station Carve Deportiva as relayed by El Observador, the agent lambasted the now Liverpool player.
Edgardo Lasalvia said: “I had no chance to talk to Darwin. I found out when he came with six bodyguards and did not want to talk at the airport, where Juanjo Acevedo was.
“I had sent a boy from the company to look for him. There I tried to call him and from a message from WhatsApp he told me that he loved me very much, that he would always be my friend, blah blah blah but that he was going to start a new path with another company, and he blocked me. I had no right to reply.
“In life, people choose how they want to live life, but there is karma, and everything comes back. You have to handle yourself as a good person and you have to have a memory. It is not possible that you do not have a memory.
“He didn’t go with Jorge Mendes, he left with another agent, the same as Otamendi. When he was in Benfica they did a little job like an ant, they started to eat his head. I got angry when I lost Darwin. It broke me in half because I adore the kid, but I understood that it’s business.”
Nunez blasted by former agent, Edgardo Lasalvia
This is quite an attack from Edgardo Lasalvia. It would be interesting to hear Darwin’s side of the story and what his reasons were for leaving the agency in such a crucial time.
Thankfully, the animosity had nothing to do with Liverpool. His £64m move was sorted out independently of the issues surrounding his representation.
The Reds have always had a good relationship with Jorge Mendes, and enjoy doing business with him. That will benefit them moving forward with Darwin Nunez.
As we’ve seen already in his short Liverpool career, the 23-year-old is a combustible character.
He seems like a lovely guy, but as Crystal Palace’s Joachim Andersen found out, he does have a temper.
For whatever reason, Lasalvia obviously found himself on the wrong end of that last year. With ties now seemingly cut, he may not get the chance again.
It hasn’t been a stellar season for Darwin, and he could do without this very public blasting from a former friend.
But the Uruguayan has managed to persevere at every challenge thrown at him so far. It will all serve to make him stronger.
