Dinamo Bucharest are currently under investigation following the emergence of reports that they have fielded an ineligible player, with defender Edgar le having his twin brother deputized in his stead.

Reports indicate that Edgar is alleged to have made his twin brother play 5 matches for the Romanian side pretending to be him.

Suspicions began to erupt when Edgar Le did not speak English, except Portuguese, despite previously playing in the Netherlands, Spain, and France, having previously been known to be an English speaker.

If Dinamo Bucharest are found guilty of the allegations, they could suffer eight points deduction this campaign.

Dinamo Bucharest’s Former President On Edgar Le’s Twin Brother Playing For Him

Florin Prunea, former president of Dinamo Bucharest, expressed that he is stunned by the news, whilst claiming that following calls to different individuals, he found out that the “news is true”.

Prunea said: “It seems surreal. I wondered if he was still sleeping, and I started making phone calls, and talking to friends. The news is true, I can’t believe it.

“Nobody denied it. I found out that he has a twin brother who also plays soccer.”

Based on Romanian journalist Emanuel Rosu, the club requested the player in question to provide his driving license to prove his identity.

However, he refused, and that has made the suspicion stronger, with many wondering why he isn’t ready to offer his driving license.

Moreover, Edgar Le, 30, who is the actual player of Dinamo Bucharest, began his professional career with Barcelona after developing through the youth setup at Sporting Lisbon.

Le spent most of his time with the B team of Barcelona featuring 48 times and providing 1 assist, whilst making only one senior appearance for the Catalan giants.

Edgar Le has played for several clubs in his career, including; Lille, Nantes, Feyenoord, and Trabzonspor.

The Guinea-Bissau international joined Dinamo Bucharest on February 18, 2024, but has apparently made his brother feature for the club in his absence.

The Romanian side have not released any official statements so far on what Edgar Le was alleged to have done, however, investigations remain ongoing.

    Edelino Miguel Ié

Moreover, his twin brother Edelino Miguel Ié also developed through the youth system of Sporting Lisbon and has played for several clubs in his career, including; Mirandela, Gondomar, and Resende.

He plays primarily as a midfielder, while Edgar le functions as a central defender, although he can also be utilized as a right-back.

Internationally, Edgar made 1 appearance for Portugal on November 10, 2017, replacing Pepe in the dying embers of their 3-0 friendly win over Saudi Arabia.

However, due to a scarcity of matches, the defender switched allegiance to Guinea-Bissau in September 2021, and he has made 2 appearances for the nation, scoring no goal and providing no assist.

Meanwhile, Ederlino le is currently clubless and he last represented Polish side Tluchovia, having joined the club on a free transfer on July 1, 2023.
