Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard has been under public scrutiny since leaving former club Chelsea for the La Liga giants. The Belgium international, who after years of rumors to be aiming for a move to the Spanish giants, finally signed for Real Madrid from Chelsea for a joint club record 100 million euros ($111.3 million) in June 2019.

However, the move to Santiago Bernabéu wasn’t all rosy as his new-look did raise eyebrows when he reported for pre-season training packing some extra weight. The 29-year-old has admitted to living his best life over the summer. Hazard, let himself go while on holiday and piled on extra pounds after signing for the Spanish giants in the close of the season last year.

During an interview with Belgian magazine Sport/Foot, the midfielder confessed to indulging in extra curriculum activities that include food.

“It’s true, I cannot lie, if I’m on holiday, then I’m on holiday. I put on five kilos in the summer. I’m one of those people who put on weight very quickly then lose it very quickly. When I was at Lille I weighed 72 kilos but then I gained muscle and went to 75 kilos. On a bad day, I can weigh 77. In the summer I went up to 80 kilos but I lost it again 10 days later” Hazard said.

Former Chelsea goalkeeper Marcin Bulka also admitted his former teammate ”loves hamburgers.”

The Polish shot-stopper left Stamford Bridge for Parc des Princes during the summer of 2019. During his three years spell in west London, he got to know Hazard pretty well and has said the midfielder has struggled for form and fitness in Spain. Bulk also admitted the Belgian star’s diet is to blame for his poor form.

Speaking to Foot Truck on Hazard, Bulka said:

”He loves hamburgers and pizza, I saw him all the time in pizzerias. He doesn’t care about anything other than football and having a good time. In Chelsea, this was not a problem, but at Real, especially with the recent injury, he probably went a bit overboard with the weight.”

During Saturday’s shocking 1-0 defeat to Levante, Eden Hazard came off the pitch with an injury. The injury is expected to keep him sidelined during Real’s Champions League clash against Manchester City on Wednesday and most likely the remaining of the season.

The club has now announced, the 29-year-old has suffered an injury in his right distal fibula and will be out for 3 months. The Belgian national team manager Roberto Martinez also gave his analysis and said he expects Hazard to be sidelined until May. It is not clear if Hazard will be fit and back in action for Euro2020 this summer. The Belgian international is said to have high hopes of returning just in time.
