Eden Hazard has continued in his struggles to regain his berth in active football as he picked up his 18th injury at Real Madrid.
Eden Hazard left Chelsea for Real Madrid for a record £150m in 2019, and has struggled to play regularly due to reccuring injury crisis that has left him sidelined.
This season, the 32-year-old has made only three appearances for the Los Blancos, and now, he has been sidelined again, compounding his woes at the club.
Largely, Eden Hazard could be said to be a flop at Real Madrid after the Spanish giants splash out a whooping £150m to bring him to Santiago Bernabeu.
The Belgian winger had suffered a knock to his left knee, marking his 18th setback at the club since joining the Spanish giants from Chelsea in the summer of 2019.
Confirming the injury, Real Madrid issued an official statement stating Eden Hazard has been diagnosed with patellar tendonitis in his left knee and is currently being monitored by the club.
”After the tests carried out today on Eden Hazard by Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with patellar tendinosis in his left knee and is under observation”, the club’s statement read.
Out of his three appearances for the club this season, he has started just one game, coming on as substitute in others.
He has played a total of 296 minutes in all competitions in seven appearances, with only three starts: against Mallorca, Celtic in the Champions League, and fourth-tier Cacereno in the Copa del Rey.
Groomed into Belgium’s golden generation, Eden Hazard won 126 caps with Belgium national team and was tipped as one of the best midfielders of his age before his departure from Stamford Bridge.
Now, Eden Hazard has fallen down the pegging order and may soon kiss his football career goodbye if things continue as they are.
Throughout his three-and-a-half-year spell at Real Madrid, he has managed only 7 goals in all appearances for the club.
While Eden Hazard has struggled to regain his footing at Real Madrid, there have been rumors linking him with a move to A-Nassr. He reportedly held talks with Al-Nassr head coach Rudi Garcia about potentially joining the club.
