Moritz Jenz has officially ended his two-year stint with French Ligue 1 team Lorient following a successful move to Wolfsburg.
The 24-year-old Nigerian descent has now completed a permanent transfer to German Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg after several loan moves.
During the first half of last season, Jenz was loaned to Celtic, a Scottish Premiership team. He played in nineteen matches across all competitions and scored two goals.
The 24-year-old center-back participated in six games for the Hoops in the UEFA Champions League. These games included matches against Real Madrid and RB Leipzig.
The player, who is eligible to play for the Super Eagles, spent the second half of the 2022-2023 season at FC Schalke 04. The team had plans to sign the player on a full deal, but unfortunately, they were relegated.
However, on Friday afternoon, June 16, VfL Wolfsburg announced that Jenz has signed a four-year contract that will keep him at Lower Saxony until 2027.
Jenz expressed his excitement about his transfer to Wolfsburg, stating on the club’s official website that he is eager to take on this new challenge.
Jenz said: “VfL Wolfsburg is a highly ambitious club that aims to compete in European competitions.”
The 1.9m Nigerian descent played for multiple clubs in Berlin at the start of his career.
He later moved to Fulham in England and then transferred to FC Lausanne-Sport in Switzerland in 2020.
Jenz joined Lorient in 2021 and made eighteen appearances, scoring one goal.
The 24-year-old however, acknowledged his performances need modification and promised to improve at his new club.
He added:” This environment is ideal for me to further my development.” As a player, I bring a great deal of heart and passion to the pitch. I am fully committed to my club and always strive to give my all for their colors.”

His professional career
In July 2015, Jenz became a member of the English team Fulham, having been scouted while playing for Tennis Borussia Berlin.
Jenz signed a permanent deal with Lausanne-Sport, a newly-promoted team in the Swiss Super League, on August 25th, 2020.
In the subsequent month, he commenced his professional career by appearing as a substitute towards the end of the game in a 2-1 victory against Servette.
Jenz signed a five-year contract with Ligue 1 team Lorient on August 30, 2021, but didn’t stay long as he was loaned from one club to another.
Jenz joined Celtic, a Scottish Premiership team, on a season-long loan starting on 19 July, 2022.
Afterward, Jenz signed a loan agreement with Bundesliga team Schalke 04 until the end of the season, starting on January 26, 2023.
