Argentina Diego Simeone has informed Atletico Madrid of his decision to leave the club at the end of the season, after 11 years in charge and a poor season at the club.

Simeone is one of the greatest managers and has brought a lot of success to Atletico Madrid. The 52-year-old manager has managed to get results even with a low budget.

He also employed defensive tactics that made it difficult for teams to score a lot of goals against the Spanish side.

In recent times, he has found it difficult to find an excellent formation for new players. Diego Simeone seems to be accustomed to his kind of football.

Simeone, who joined Atletico in 2011 and played for the team twice, from 1994 to 1997 and then from 2003 to 2005, is the manager with the longest tenure in LaLiga.

The manager won the La Liga title twice; they also won the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea.

He also took Atletico Madrid to two Champions League finals, where they were defeated by archrival Real Madrid in 2014 and 2016.

However, this season seems to be a disaster, with Atletico Madrid currently in the fifth position and struggling to get to the fourth position before the end of the season.

The team also failed to qualify for the Champions League knockout stage; they finished beneath the Champions League group stage, with Porto, Club Brugge, and Bayern Leverkusen coming ahead of them.

The news seems to be a shock to some fans who believed he could turn the poor season into a good one, and some other fans see it as a sign of relief.

It is likely that a new manager would change Atletico Madrid’s story and make them compete again in all competitions.

Which manager will likely replace Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid when he leaves:

It has been rumored that Atletico Madrid is looking forward to getting former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique on a long-term deal. Enrique is the most experienced manager available due to his success at Barcelona.

He won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2015, the Copa Del Rey, and the La Liga title before he left the club due to his contract expiration on March 1, 2017.

However, Atletico Madrid needs to act fast in order to get his service. He is a world-class manager, and if it arises that a top club sacks its manager, they are likely to move for Enrique.

Enrique’s style will improve the Atletico Madrid team, and the Spanish manager wants to return to duties after being sacked by Spain for failing to beat Morocco in the Round of 16 of the World Cup.

The manager stated that he would only be interested in taking a club job rather than one with the national team.

Atletico Madrid CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin will love someone of Enrique’s caliber.
