Cristiano Ronaldo was told by ex-Manchester City forward Trevor Sinclair to ‘keep his mouth shut’ during Manchester United’s latest inquest, and the superstar has responded.
Cristiano Ronaldo has told his Manchester United teammates to “keep working” after being advised to “keep his mouth shut.”
Following Trevor Sinclair’s claim that he is “causing a lot of problems” at Old Trafford, the 36-year-old took to social media.
When he triumphantly re-signed for United last August, Ronaldo had no idea the Red Devils would be out of the Premier League title race by January.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is reportedly ready to leave the club if interim manager Ralf Rangnick is appointed permanently, and Sinclair has criticized his efforts this season.
The former Manchester City forward believes his former club “dodged a bullet” by failing to sign Ronaldo, despite being linked with him before he made his homecoming on the other side of the city.
“I’m starting to think that Manchester City dodged a bullet by not signing Cristiano,” Sinclair said on talkSPORT.
“You look at some of the young players at Manchester United who are struggling for form, [Jadon] Sancho, [Marcus] Rashford, they’re really struggling for good performances.”
“Of course you can [blame it on Ronaldo].” Understand your role, understand your role. You’re a footballer, and you’ve been hired by a football club.
“Sometimes keeping your mouth shut is the best thing to do.” He’s causing quite a few issues at the football club.
“Not just his recent goal drought, but the fact that Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] has left and Michael has gone in and dropped him for a game.”
Sinclair has also speculated on why Ronaldo chose United over City, pointing out that United are fighting for a place in the Champions League, whereas Pep Guardiola’s men are vying for yet another title.
“I just feel like it’s one of those signings that looked good but turned out to be far from good,” the player-turned-pundit continued.
Sinclair is not the right person to ask Ronaldo to keep his mouth shut because he (Sinclair) has won nothing comparable to Ronaldo in his football career. Ronaldo has won more trophies (32) as an individual than his former club, Manchester City (28).
Everyone wants to pick on Ronaldo at every opportunity since his dream return to Old Trafford. Despite his alleged under performance and “old age,” he has scored 8 goals in the EPL and 6 goals in the UCL, totaling 17 goals contribution for the club.
